Welcome

The Pack Committee Chairman, John Albers, welcomed everyone.

Announcements

John made the following announcements, noting that details are on the Council web site:

District 10 Awards nominations are sought in various categories.

Camporee is being held in Eatonville on May 20th-21st, which is the same weekend as the Visitation School Auction.

Secretary’s Report

Elisabeth asked for comments or changes to the minutes of the February meeting. The minutes were approved.

Treasurer’s Report

Kristin distributed a detailed summary of checking balances and budget comparisons.  Rounded off, there is $3,500 in checking.  The cake auction at the Blue and Gold Banquet raised $817 for the Pack.  Kristin noted that next year the Treasure/spotter should be located at a better vantage point (on stage?) to see and record the bids.  She handed out a spreadsheet of the popcorn sales showing the split of funds per Den.

Advancement Report

Deborah was absent.  Any advancements should be called or e-mailed to her.

Public Relations Report

Tina was absent.

Den Leaders Report

No reports presented.

Old Business

Blue and Gold Banquet: As stated in the Treasurer’s Report, the cake auction netted $817.  Special recognition was given for Ann and Jose Garcia, who carried out their volunteer duties even while Stephen was in the hospital with appendicitis.  Joe S. and Kristin will coordinate the purchase of a recognition gift to be presented to them at the next Pack meeting.

New Business

Friends of Scouting:  There were only two pledges to the campaign made at the Blue and Gold this year.  It is thought that the cake auction impedes donations and suggestions were made that the campaign be conducted at a different event, perhaps at the rummage sale.

Scouting for Food:  Joe S. said the door hangers will be available for Scouts at 9:30 on March 12th and the pickup will take place the following Saturday, the 19th.  He will distribute maps and block assignments.  This event, as well as the pancake breakfast (w/Tsunami victim donation) and the Den 11 participation at the St. Leo’s food bank, would qualify for “Good Turn for America” recognition.  The pack meeting will be held on the 19th following the food pick up.  Kristin, Deborah and Elisabeth will coordinate a spaghetti lunch.

Visitation Food Bank:  Bonnie Sepich invited Pack 10 to help with sorting food donations during the summer months.  Approximately 30 to 40 bags of food will need to be put away.  Dens can sign up for a summer month and Bonnie will contact leaders for the date the Scouts are needed.

Jr. Daffodil Parade:  Joe S. said he will distribute the bucket drums again and hold practices for anyone interested.  He and Bill may build a big drum, too.

Religious Emblems:  No packets were distributed this year but one Scout has completed his work for the emblem.  It was suggested that he receive his emblem at an all-school mass.

Pinewood Derby:  Jennifer Keller has a timer for a 4-lane track and may be able to put one together for a larger track.  Roger said he is still working on a plan for an 8-lane one.  Scouts may be able to help with the construction.  40 kits will be needed.

Scouts Night at Sonics game:  Roger put the flyer up on the Pack 10 web site.

Rummage Sale:  Roger noted that he had a lead on a donation of storage space at a facility on Hosmer Street.  We could offer a sign thanking the business for its donation.

Spring Popcorn Sale:  Roger said there is still popcorn available at the district office for any dens interested in selling popcorn.  The den would get 50% of any popcorn sold.  Any Packs signing up by June 10th to participate in the annual Fall Popcorn sale will receive a gift certificate.  Pack 10 will participate and Roger was given the go-ahead to sign us up.

Other Business

None discussed.

Next Meeting:  April 21, 2005
